Double Whammy

I'm watching the Golden Globes and Sylvester Stallone is called on (with Arnold Shwatzenegger) to present the award for best foreign film.  So of course I'm ridiculously excited and watching the whole thing with a grin planted on my face when one of the films nominated turns out to be called Kon Tiki. There are a few things that hit me between the eyes when it comes to my father, and the book The Kon Tiki Expedition is one of them. He loved that book. It seemed like a dull tedious tome and i didn't want to read it but if my father said 'here, do this' I did, because to me he was omniscient. I read it, and I loved it. I tried to get all my friends to read it but being the 13 year old girls they were (i mean they were, literally, 13 year old girls) they refused to. So Kon Tiki became another one of those extra special things I shared just with thaaththa. And I'm telling you; seeing that they made the movie, knowing how excited he would have been about it, and then, not being able to go home and tell him the news; that just blows.
